An Approach of Religious Science from Javadi Amoli's Perspective and its Implications for Higher Education Curriculum

Abstract

This article is aimed to examine an aspect of an approach of religious science or knowledge which was introduced by Javahi Amoli. That aspect refers to the scientist's or knower's characteristics and virtues. To this end, first of all, the Ayatollah Javadi Amoli's theory was reviewed briefly, then according to this theory, the role of wisdom in forming the knower's competencies especially the role of theoretical and practical wisdom in producing the Islamic knowledge was explained. Based on it, the knower's features or virtues which were divided in two categories were elucidated. These are: knowledge or attitude class and ethical or behavioral division. In the following, the implications of this approach of religious science for designing or changing universities' curricula were stated. Those will help to educate the scholars who will possess these characteristics and as a consequence, they will be capable to produce Islamic knowledge. Finally, the conclusion with the theoretical achievement of this approach to respond some critics of Javari Amoli's theory was mentioned.
