Abstract

The research was conducted to analyze the challenges of teaching religious concepts to elementary school students: a qualitative study Nature Based on the Lived Experience of. teachers; in this regard, the research is qualitative and was conducted using the phenomenological Harmonistic research method. The sample population of the research is experienced teachers in Tehran and Karaj provinces, who were determined to be 12 based on purposive sampling and reached saturation at 12 people. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis with the help of MAXQDA software. Regarding the question, what challenges do experienced teachers face in teaching the concept of theology to elementary school students? The result  showed that 7 organizing themes were identified, including: the incompatibility of teaching the concept of God with the level of awareness and age of students, creating fear of God among students, inappropriate attitude of parents towards students' repeated questions, strictness of teachers and their incorrect behavior, lack of belief in religion in some families, etc., ineffective teachers, and tendency towards direct and one-sided educational methods in transmitting religious concepts. Then, regarding the question of what challenges elementary school teachers face in teaching elementary school students about the relationship between humans and God and nature? The result of interview showed that four organizing themes were extracted, including: financial and cultural limitations of schools and families, lack of focus on children's tangible experiences, neglect of the process of reflection and introspection in nature-centered education, and shortcomings in the use of nature-centered educational media and tools. The results of this study show that elementary school teachers face numerous challenges in teaching the concept of God and the relationship between humans and nature, which are mainly due to the lack of appropriateness of educational content to the cognitive level of children, inappropriate teaching methods, environmental limitations, and the inefficiency of some teachers in teaching the concept of God to elementary school students. It seems necessary to review educational methods and tailor the curriculum to children's life experiences, as well as re-train teachers to overcome these challenges.
